Driveway of Death Melvin and Elizabeth Grimes and Jack Kenney
Melvin and Elizabeth Grimes |
Jack Kenney |
The show is described as in Carmel Canyon, Calif., wealthy neighbors get into disputes over everything from shared roads and bridges to the upkeep of their respective properties until anger boils over and the ongoing feud is resolved with fatal gunfire.
Ultimately, Jack was convicted of this crime and sentenced to life without parole.
Jack's appeal includes: Defendant was seen and examined by a psychiatric nurse at a hospital psychiatric unit on June 12, 2005. Defendant reported at that time that he had been assaulted by a neighbor the day before and that he was fearful of going home because he lived alone. He was anxious and irritable. He answered no when he was asked whether he had firearms in his home. The nurse recommended that defendant be discharged home with anti-anxiety medication, with follow-up therapy at the VA clinic.
Some time in the year before January 2007, defendant contacted the First Alarm security company requesting information about security matters for his home. Michael Morrison, the Monterey County branch manager of First Alarm, met with defendant at his home. Morrison recommended that defendant install motion detectors and cameras outside his home and an alarm system. As far as Morrison knows, defendant did not do any of this.
