Kill-De-Sac, Duren Wayne Eldridge and Robert Lorenz

When a freewheeling family moves from California to the conservative enclave of Leesburg, Va., they get on the wrong side of one of their neighbors, and the conflict escalates until bullets fly and blood flows in the street.
Robert Lorenz was acquitted of murder in the killing of Duren Wayne Eldrige (see details below). According to the UPI, Lorenz testified he was scared by Eldridge’s drunken threats and fired a pistol only after Eldridge, who wasn’t armed, moved to come into the house. Eldridge’s blood alcohol level was 0.19, more than twice the limit for drivers. Lorenz settled after the shooting, paying a thirty thousand dollar settlement.
